About

Project Redwood is a small woodworking studio in Heemstede, just outside Haarlem. Every piece is designed, cut, glued, sanded and finished by hand in my workshop. It’s a compact space, but it has everything a piece of good wood needs.

It started years ago, when I realised I was in love with the smell of fresh sawdust and with the fact that my hands could make whatever I could imagine. Like a true person of this age, I found my teachers online: Mads from Sail Life, Leo Sampson Goolden, Steve from Acorn to Arabella and Jason Hibbs. Watching them build boats and furniture that are meant to last a lifetime taught me as much about patience and care as about technique.

What I love most is the moment a design comes together. Strips of walnut, maple, padauk and oak, each chosen for its colour and grain, are arranged until the pattern feels right and then glued into one solid board. No two ever come out the same. Every board in the shop is one of a kind, and the one in the photos is the exact one you’ll receive.

I care just as much about where the wood comes from. Some pieces use Dutch-grown cherry, oak and beech. Others start life as something else entirely: a forgotten teak tray, a tired bamboo board found at a thrift shop, even an old oak floor. I sand and oil them and give them a second life. Good wood deserves to be used, not thrown away.

Thank you for supporting handmade work. Every order is packed with care and sent with a little note from the workshop.
