Quick ’n Clean — Upcycled Oak Prep Board

Born from reclaimed oak flooring, given a second life in the kitchen. This little board was once part of someone's floor, now planed right back, sanded smooth through progressively finer grits and finished food safe, so every original surface is long gone and what you cut on is fresh, clean wood. The warm oak is paired with a band of padauk for a bit of fire.

Each board is cut, arranged and glued by hand in my small workshop in the Netherlands, and made to order in small batches. Because every board is handmade from reclaimed wood, yours will be similar to the one shown but not identical, with its own grain, knots and character. As a handmade, upcycled piece, expect small marks and character in the wood, part of its story and its second life. The photo is a representative example.

At 26.7 by 15.1 centimeters it is the one you grab without thinking, quick for a lemon, a bit of cheese or a snack, and quick to clean.

Care
Hand wash with warm water and mild soap, then dry upright. Never put it in the dishwasher or leave it soaking. Re-oil now and then with food-safe mineral oil or board butter to keep it looking its best.
